I would like to follow this title by saying that you also feel what you are thinking. If you are thinking negative thoughts like overdue bills, lack of funds, the feeling of "lack" in general, you will feel that in your gut. With the winter looming above our heads for us "northern folk" and the holidays on the horizon, It is a prime time for people to fall into a lull and be down in the dumps. I want everyone to at least give what I'm writing about some thought in order to curb this.
There is a plethera of self help books out there on the shelf today. Some of the more populare ones focus on the "law of attraction". If you are like me, you don't think that you need to explore any self help, but just need a booster or a redirection if you will. I have spent the last year reading and studying the subject about happiness, attracting wealth, and attracting what you want in life. I wanted to share with everyone some of the things I learned that could help us all out.
1.) Practice living in the now. You will go in the direction that you choose to go by efforts that you make today. What you did in the past is not who you are, but who you were. Be who you want to be today. Starting right now. If you believe that you are something, then you are that of which you want to be.
2.) Practice thinking positive. Look at the bright side of all situations. You will be happier. Try it. Eliminate doubt, and give everything a chance. No matter what past learned experiences tell you. Don't say "no way, that won't work".... Give it a chance
3.) Be happy now!! Feel good now!!! Life is what happens while you are planning other things. Find what you love to do and do it. Find your purpose in life, and put all your efforts towards it. You will be amazed at how much more satisfied you will be with life. Also, you might be able to make a few dollars focusing in your area of expertise.
4.) Branching off of number 3.... Find your life's purpose. Find what makes you happy. Put all your energy and efforts into this. You will never truly be happy unless you are focusing and doing things that are your own purpose. Each person's purpose is unique to them. A good place to start would be to ask yourself "If money, time, or bills were no object, what would I do?".
5.) Don't waste time worrying! Easier said than done I know. Worrying about things gets you nowhere, and is hard on your heart's health. I think Mark Twain said it best, "I have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened". Think about it..... We worry about things that we cannot control or never occur. Its a waste of time and energy. Stop it! Let things go.
6.) Like building blocks, your mind attracts alike thoughts and things. Magnetism... Law of Attraction... You think negative bad things, then more negative bad things come toward you. Think about positive things, and things that make you happy. More will come to you. The universe does not know how to differentiate. Like gravity, you throw something up...... No matter what it is, it will fall. The law of attraction states that it will attract more of what you are thinking or attracting in your life. It doesn't differentiate what. You do! Do your self a favor. focus on what you want, not what you don't want. You don't want more debt in your life, guess what???? You are telling the universe to bring you more debt in your life. You focus on debt (or whatever), then more of that comes your way!
I will keep talking about this more as we go along. If you need a reference point. Read the book "The Secret"! Its a quick read, and life changing. Be happy!
So here is the deal... We are hosting the NHL's winter classic here at Fenway Park on 1/1/10. The Bruins are playing the Flyers. The press conference was held yesterday. They had the boards all lined up on the field, and in all honesty, it was pretty cool. I couldn't help but to think as I was sitting there in stands taking it all in yesterday. I'm all about the grassroots hockey thing. It all started on the ponds and was played outside, and I can see the appeal of why people would want to check it out. Here is the thing. I've walked over the green monster (green wall in left field at Fenway Park) many a time in January. I'm sorry, but it is cold as hell. Like bone chilling, wind gusting, I'm getting the f%#k out of here chilling. For the life of me, I cannot understand why people are going to drop their bank accounts to freeze their asses of to watch this thing.
Case and point. I watched the Blackhawks play at Wrigley Field last winter. Everyone in the stands looked so miserable it was rediculous. Hungover from New Years, and freezing in the bleachers. Ugh.... I know they call Chicago the Windy City, but Boston is the windiest city in the United States. Thats fact! Good luck folks. I'll watch it 100 yards over in my heated office. I love sports, but that gives a whole new meaning to die hard!!
So here is the deal! I've decided that I'm going to start writing again. Whether you want to listen to my mindless ramblings or not is up to you. One promise that I have is that it will be consistent, and often. A day older, and a day wiser............ Now as a father, I have a deeper appreciation (or annoyance) of alot more things. Hold on. Whether you like it or not, I'm gonna gab.....
Cheers! I'm a new Daddy to a 6 lb. 8 oz. healthy baby girl! Baby B has been nothing but a gift thus far (wait until shes a teenager). My wife is healthy and so is my daughter, what else can I ask for.
Its so cliche....... but...... This is what is really important in life (at least to me). Everything else is just trivial materialistic feedings to our need for instant gratification in the society that we were raised in. As humans we have a want, and once that want is met, our satisfaction is only quenched for a moment until we want something else. The life of a baby is a big thirst quencher. I can honestly say that for the first time in my life that the quench is satisfied. Happy New Years to all!!!
So my old man in Chicago is a guitar nut!!! He instilled in me early in my life the power, beauty, and wonder that music can bring to one's life. My love of guitar music specifically (electric and acoustic) has been a lifelong journey through different musical styles begining with classic rock. Furthermore this meandering road has led me through musings in Jazz, Blues, Alternative, and ultimately to my true love of percussive acoustic music (John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Rusted Root, Ben Harper, etc.). Anyways, like I said, my pops is a guitar nut! I think its fair to describe him in this fashion as he personally owns close to 100 guitars. He has taught me the joy and appreciation of vintage american made guitars such as Fender, Gibson, Taylor, Rickenbacker and so on and so forth. In fact he owns at least one of most of these. Maturing in his lifelong journey to play, own, and critique guitars, he has recently began leaning towards those closet classic no name guitars that nobody knows, but are diamonds in the rough so to speak.
this brings me to the point of this article. He recently sent me (as he has a habit of sharing the wealth via our friend UPS) an AXL guitar. From the onset, it looks like your typical strat copy guitar. On the contrary, this son of a bitch jams. The neck and hardware feels like a quality instrument. I can tell if I like a guitar (for the most part) in the first minute or so of holding it. It speaks to you. This guitar speaks to you!!!!! The best part about it is that it retails under $100 (check ebay for the best deals). Also, it has some kickass EMG pickups on it. The hardware is quality!
If you are a begining guitar player, this guitar is for you. Not only is this guitar tailored to a beginners needs (especially in the wallet area), but it gives feel and soul to some of the most seasoned guitar players out there! Check it out!
Sorry! I haven't been keeping up with my rants and raves as of late. I've had a busy few weeks. The wife and I have been expecting a baby, and we just found out that we are going to have a girl. We're very excited. Being a guy, you kind of hold on to that I want a boy thing, but I have to say I was every bit as pleased to find out a girl is on the way. Time to start saving for a wedding!!!:)
I'm a Senior Accountant at Fenway Park who is married with a child on the way.
